From copyright to contracts the law plays a big part in the creative industries. Whether you are a musician, artist, writer, dancer or film maker it is important that you have a good understanding of how the law affects you and the work you create.
The law firm McLaughlin Law, which specialises in providing legal advice and guidance to those involved in the creative industries, is one of the two partners who have come together to make the Creative People’s Centre a reality. McLaughlin Law is responsible for providing the various legal services that the Creative People’s Centre offers.
Currently the Creative People’s Centre provides three different services aimed at providing information and support with respect to the legal issues encountered in the creative industries. These are Fact Sheets, Seminars and One on One Legal Advice.
A wide range of issue specific Fact Sheets are available on this website. Each of these Fact Sheets provide a detailed insight into a specific legal issue encountered in the creative industries.
The Creative People's Centre regularly offers seminars on key legal issues and developments. To keep informed of any upcoming seminars in your region that may be of interest to you we encourage you to sign up to our mailing list. If would like to discuss having a specifically focused legal issues seminar presented to your group or organisation, then please don't hesitate to contact us.
The Creative People's Centre is also able to provide one on one legal consultations to help you with any specific legal issues you may need advice on. The number of such consultations which we can provide are limited so please contact us to find out when the next available session is.
