CPC Developing Model for Communities and the Arts

The Creative People’s Centre has often advocated for the advancement of arts communities. Through recent work and relationships built throughout the country, we have identified that targeted support for arts communities in non-urban areas can produce significant long-term economic, social and cultural benefits. The CPC is dedicated to providing support, resources and encouragement so that communities feel confident in developing and capitalizing on their own creative edge.

We are developing a model, based on research and our own experiences, which will be available to communities wishing to explore their potential and to develop opportunities in the arts and creative industries. The model will recognise that:

-Arts are a cornerstone to economic development

-Arts are strengthened through community and community ownership

-Arts provide real and tangible benefits for communities

The model will encourage communities to:

- Harness resources within communities to create and/or support an arts infrastructure

- Base their vision for the arts on what is unique to their area

- Realise potential and opportunity for new ideas

We will continue to keep you informed on the progress of the model, and are looking for exciting ways to launch it.
